《战争号令——地狱之门：东线》提供多种游戏模式，包括单人游戏、动态战役、PvE、PvP和合作战役。
凭借可即时切换的视角，每种类型的玩家都能找到合适的选择。第一人称与第三人称视角可即时切换，包括所有载具的第一人称炮镜视角、载具和步兵的第三人称视角、单个单位的经典的自顶向下直接控制或经典RTS自顶向下视角。
征服（动态战役）模式可供单人游玩或是与您的朋友联机合作。这两种模式都允许您组建自己的军队，研发新的单位，并在不同的路线上进行战略推进，以主导战场。动态战役的时长可以很短，也可以是无限长。
PvP/PvE提供了对战规模从1v1到4v4的各种地图，以及“学说”的使用。“学说”设定让您可以选择适合您个人游戏风格的特殊单位。也可以选择战争的阶段（早期/中期/晚期），随着战争的进展，体验装备和载具的演变。
单人模式战役根据历史记录的地点制作，游戏团队极力还原战役之貌，让您身临东线地狱。
